Developing a ‘one-stop’ app for the SLTDA
Citra Lab is supporting the UNDP Country Office in working with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) in developing a comprehensive way forward post-COVID-19 in the tourism sector of the country. Given the prevailing situation, many changes and systems need to be put in place in order to ensure the safety of incoming tourists and local populations are maintained.
In order to provide a more accessible and streamlined system with which tourists can plan their stay in Sri Lanka, SLTDA along with UNDP and Citra Lab have been in discussions to develop a ‘one-stop’ app which will provide all the necessary information that will be required and/or useful for any tourists coming into the country. This app will also be connected to the Department of Immigration and Emigration so that the two systems are interlinked enabling a tourist to even apply for visa through the app as their information will be shared with the Department for the usual due process.
The Citra team is working collaboratively with the SLTDA and the Department in providing technical input and expertise into the features of the app and what it will look like. The Lab is also providing an angle of social innovation by facilitating user insights that will be the basis for the development of the app, thereby ensuring the app is user-friendly and provides the necessary information for tourists as well as fulfilling any data requirements for the SLTDA and the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
