Workshops on Foresight and Innovation
As an extension of the NextGenGov fellowship, Citra has supported several ministries and other government agencies and departments in conducting workshops on human-centered design and foresighting with the aim of embedding a culture of innovation within the public sector. A few examples of workshops conducted thus far, are listed below:
- Matara Divisional Secretariat: At the request of the Divisional Secretary, a two-day workshop on foresight and innovation tools was conducted for all staff. The workshop introduced staff to key principles of design thinking and introduced them to practical tools that they could employ in their day to day activities.
- Series of workshops for Class Three officers at SLIDA: at the request of the Director of Administration of SLIDA, Citra designed a series of four-day workshop series that would introduce participants to human centred design and foresighting and innovation tools that they could use to unpack issues and design solutions with. Two such workshops have been conducted thus far with a further two scheduled to take place within this year.
- Design thinking session on challenges related to the use of the Local Government Network 2.0: At the request of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), Citra conducted a design thinking session with key stakeholders on the challenges related to the underutilization of the Local Government Network (LGN) 2.0 by the Public Sector. Through the use of tools such as an issue map and rapid ideation, the group was able to identify some of the key challenges as well as to formulate recommendations for how these might be overcome.
In addition to the above, workshops have also been conducted with the Youth Division of the Ministry of Skills Development, the Commission for Investigating Allegations of Bribery and Corruption, the Dehiwala Divisional Secretariat, and the Colombo Municipal Councils Solid Waste Management Department, among others.
